Three Branding Lessons I Learned From Inside the yoga Temple

I'll let you in on a little secret...I've recently become addicted to yoga! It's a great way for a type-A personality like me to unwind, get centered and focus on something other than the next task on my list of to-do's. The added benefit is that I've gained more physical power and strength and an abundance of clarity in all aspects of my life.

I've been practicing yoga now for several months and have been so focused on my movements that I failed to notice there is much to be learned about business success in the midst of the 'om'. Here are 3 lessons we can all learn from:

1. Let your inner voice guide you
Unlike competitive sports, yoga practitioners don't compete with the rest of the room or even themselves. Instead, they honor where they are at in the moment and stretch not based on what the rest of the group is doing but based on how far they can go that day. This requires really listening to your inner voice, honoring where you're at and not imposing preconceived judgments on yourself.

In business, instead of moving at the pace of the pack, or making decisions based on what others are doing (or not doing), develop a strategy that honors your brand statement. When you are clear on your brand, and the value it represents, you are able to make decisions that point back to what really matters and is right...for you.

2. Expect to get out of balance
One of the moves I had the most difficulty with in the early stages of my yoga practice, is called 'Tree Pose.' As a yoga newbie, I didn't have the focus I have today and balancing on one foot while my hands floated in the air above me was challenging. I'd fall out of the move, and became frustrated.

No matter the size, or age, of your business there will be times when what you forecasted doesn't go as planned. It's easy to just throw your hands up in the air and give up or change your course completely - your brand isn't built on that now is it? Before you become frustrated, take a moment to readjust and try that marketing strategy or sales tactic again.

3. Model the actions of those that are achieving what you want
Whether you practice yoga in a studio with other people or prefer to move into downward-facing dog in the privacy of your own home, it helps to model someone who is performing the moves successfully. I'm always keeping an eye on my instructor when she introduces a move I'm not familiar with so that I can copy her movements.

As a small business owner, you don't have to go it alone! Look for role models that are achieving the success you want and learn from them. The trick is to avoid taking advice from those that aren't more successful than you. Beware of 'wanna-be' mentors that position themselves as know-it-alls when in fact they are do-nothings.

The most enjoyable part of my yoga practice is the 'Salutation Seal' when we place our hands near our heart and reflect on our accomplishment. As part of your business' practice honor your accomplishments and remember, tomorrow is another day.

Guiding Principles

Helping employees get answers to their personal health benefits questions is a common responsibility for benefit administrators (BAs).

Many employees turn to their companys benefit administrator for assistance because they feel the BA is in a better position to get accurate and timely information from the health insurance carrier. However, there are rules and restrictions that govern how BAs can obtain specific health information for employees.

In the past, BAs could simply ask the health insurance carrier a question related to the personal health of an employee and the carrier could provide the answer directly to the BA. However, this has changed. In todays workplace, there are rules and restrictions for obtaining health information on a specific employee. The federal and state governments have issued strict guidelines with severe penalties concerning the misuse or unauthorized disclosure of an individuals protected health information (PHI).

Therefore, it is important that companies and their designated benefits representative understand these rules and regulations and how they pertain to sharing an employees PHI.

Getting permission

Benefit administrators can still help employees obtain answers to their personal health questions but they must now follow the guidelines set forth by the Health insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The HIPAA regulations, effective April 14, 2003, impose specific policies and procedures governing the use and disclosure of an individuals protected health information.

In order to make an inquiry on an employees behalf, the BA must obtain written consent from the employee. The authorization form is usually specific to the health benefits company to which the inquiry is being made and must contain certain elements required under HIPAA, including the limitations of the authorization, effective and termination dates, and information regarding the individuals rights under the authorization.

Some health benefits companies will only accept an original consent form; others will accept a faxed copy.

Receiving a response

Once the appropriate form is received by the health benefits company, a response to the BAs inquiry can be released. The information that will be reported back to the BA will bethe minimum necessary the least amount of information necessary to answer the question, limited to the range of permission.

For example, if the initial inquiry was regarding whether a claim had been processed for payment, the health benefits carrier would provide a response of no or a response of yes that would include the date of payment. Based on the scope and wording of the question, what the claim was for and the amount paid may not be disclosed.

If this additional information is needed, it must be addressed in the initial question and would have to be included in the range of permission that the employee granted. HIPAA guidelines are in place to protect each individuals personal health information. The federal and state governments are clear as to what can and cannot be shared without authorization and may impose civil and monetary fines and penalties for noncompliance.

However, these regulations do not mean that BAs cannot help employees receive answers to their personal health questions. Understanding HIPAA guidelines and your health benefit companys policies regarding authorization forms will allow your BA to continue to help employees find out answers to important health benefit questions.

Be a Guest Speaker and Attract Business

Being a guest speaker in front of the right audience can be an excellent way to attract new business. Many clubs, organizations, conventions, and trade shows seek guest speakers who can provide useful information to their audience. The opportunity to speak in front of an attentive group can certainly boost your business, whether you are a service or product provider.

Design your speech or presentation so that the audience leaves with useful information that will help them. Avoid giving a sales pitch; this will be a turn-off for both the audience and the speaker-coordinator.

Here are a number of reasons why being a guest speaker can attract more business:

You are perceived as an expert in your field.

You have an opportunity to get free publicity to promote the event.

You have the opportunity to hand out information to each attendee (with your contact name on it).

You can ask for names and addresses of attendees to build your contact database.

Photography in Saudi Arabia

I was in Saudi Arabia during the last three years and according to my personal experience, it is very difficult to practise photography in Saudi Arabia.

Before August 2006 photography was not allowed in Saudi Arabia. There are signboards that read 'No Photography' at several places including historical and famous mosques like The Prophet`s Mosque and Qiblatain Mosque. You are not allowed to photograph any governmental institutions, that is, government schools, mosques (since all mosques are owned and strictly supervised by the government), airports, military bases, public facilities, palaces and any other governmental buildings.

I was once arrested by security police for having taken a photograph of a building in an educational institution. They took away my camera without giving any explanation. Later, I was asked to sign a form that says I will never take pictures again in that location. It was only after giving a lengthy elucidation upon my intention, that they returned me my camera, however they kept the film.

On another occasion, I and some of my friends decided to spend the night camping in an open-air recreational park in the desert in Madina named as Muntazah Baidah. The locals used to come here among families especially during weekends. That night, I decided to have some shots of the desert plants in the vicinity. I was trying out some techniques with a flash unit. Unintentionally it happened that I pointed my camera in the direction where a family was camping some 60 meters away. After a while I saw a man in white garb approaching with an angry face. He rebuked me for taking pictures of his family and asked us to camp further away.

In the village of Buraidah, I was once arrested by two policemen for photographing a mosque. I was released only upon the intervention of my Saudi friend.

Even at Madain Salih, one of the most famous archaeological site in Saudi Arabia, you should be careful when using your camera. At the entrance of the site, there are instruction signboards that I would like to photograph. Soon I was summoned by the police and he checked each and every image on my digital camera.

Journalists have to endure difficulties on a daily basis to take photos in public. I am sure that many visitors who have once been to Saudi Arabia with a camera will have similar experiences to tell.

But why you are not allowed to photograph even at these locations? Is it because of Islamic teachings or the local customs or because of the government`s restriction upon your liberty and freedom? So why all these taboos about photography?

According to me, I think that this attitude towards photography is created by the Saudi government first, not as many people would have you believe that it is due to Islamic beliefs. What does the government have to hide to the world? Since Saudi Arabia is a dictatorship regime, they would not like and would not allow anybody to document the Saudi government`s actions. Nobody has the right to criticise, comment or even make a suggestion on a particular decision or action taken by the government and a picture is said to be worthy a thousand words. The royal family has police forces under the guise of so called `religious police` to ensure that you abide to their rules that suit their personal interests.

Secondly, because of local customs. The camera is seen as an intrusion upon privacy. Just having a camera hanging around your neck will surely attract attentions and even comments, whether you are in your car, on the streets or at public places. I had the locals staring and shouting at me as a means of deterrence not to use my camera. They may even report you to the authorities.

But, why nowadays do they allow photography? It is not because they would like to, but because they are forced to accept it due to international pressures and due to the precarious situation of the Saudi economy. As unemployment rate has soared within recent years, the royal family is seeking ways to generate revenue other than oil. They need to promote tourism at an international level to diversify their economy. Photography is now seen as a medium to advertise the country to the world to encourage tourism.

Even after lifting the ban on photography, I think that it will take many more years to get the locals accustomed to it.

Looking Inside Fishing Reel Parts

Fishing reels are sometimes taken for granted and not many people take time to think about the Intricacies of fishing reel parts. They are the device that brings the fish in, and modern fishing reels are fairly complicated devices. The spinning reel is the most popular version used in fishing today, but it is not always the best choice for many types of fishing. Reel bodies can be made of plastic, aluminum, steel, or graphic. Aluminum is tougher than graphite, but graphite is much lighter. It is a personal call whether the lower weight of graphite is worth it trade off in toughness, but it primarily depends on the type of fishing you do. Larger fish will require aluminum, while catching smaller fish allows you to get away with graphite and have less weight to deal with. Graphite is also great at resisting saltwater corrosion. When looking at a reel to buy you should be sure it feels solid and has no loose and rattling parts. There movement should be smooth and there should be no back play.

The reel size is important as well. Lighter lines call for smaller reels, and vise versa. In most cases ten pound test line is as tough as you need, so your reel should not exceed the diameter needed by ten pound test line. However, if you are into serious saltwater fishing you may need a bigger reel and line.

One of the most important fishing reel parts are the gears as these are what connect the crank to the spool. The ratio of the gears determines how many revolutions the spool makes when one revolution of the crank is made. And example would be a ratio or 4:1. This means that turning the crank once makes the spool turn four times. Having a lower ratio, such as 3:1 is advantageous for reeling in bigger fish as it provides more torque. The downside is that the process will be slower. For smaller fish a higher ratio can be used since less torque is needed. The upside is that you can reel the fish in faster.

Drag systems are what apply the pull on a hooked fish, but let the line out when the fish is fighting. This helps absorb the energy of the fish and prevent a broken line or dropped reel. The ball bearings in the reel help keep the action smooth, which aids in a very confident and consistent reeling motion.

Your fishing reel parts when assembled together are the mechanical components that helps you actually bring the fish in. If the reel is not up to the task, you will not catch the fish even though it took the bait. Do not skimp on your reel, but also do not buy a reel that in excessive to your needs as an oversized nipples reel will make catching smaller fish more difficult.

Five Features Tenants Look For In Renting a Unit

After six months of living and renting a range of units, there are five key features I can definitely share that tenants look for when renting a unit. These five features can make a difference in whether your unit is occupied all year round or just a few months a year.

Feature 1: A Large Balcony

The number one feature that my wife and I looked for when we were choosing a Unit to rent was the size of the balcony. Many older style units built in the 60's and 70's have incredibly small balconies. In many cases the balconies can only hold a single chair and a small coffee table.

In talking with a number of tenants, we found that the majority of tenants told us that they would pay more for a unit with a larger balcony than one with a smaller balcony. For example, our unit we are renting has an outdoor balcony area of 25 sq m which means that much of our life is spent outside during the summer. As we are located in tropical North Queensland, we tend to use our deck as much during summer as during the winter. One of the other key features that we looked at was whether the balcony was in fact covered. This has also influenced when we use the balcony.

If you spend time looking at units without balconies you will notice that the quality of their outdoor settings go off in a short period in time. We chose a unit which had a covered balcony so that our outdoor settings would last, especially since the deck setting is timber. The other core reason, we chose a unit with a covered balcony is that it is much easier to warm during winter than an open air balcony.

Feature 2: An Internal Laundry

I cannot believe in the Year 2007, there are still developers around the world who do not provide brand new units with an Internal Laundry. I recently travelled overseas and found that one of the brand new units we were renting for a period actually did not include an Internal Laundry, you still had to go to a common laundry that you had to pay between $5 AUD and $10 AUD per load.

I have seen a number of really well structured laundries that do not take up a lot of space. The unit we are currently in actually has the laundry built into a cupboard. Essentially the laundry comes with a small dryer, front loader washing machine and sink. For a couple such as my wife and I this is sufficient. The downside I have found to this style of internal laundry is that you have to make sure that there is physical space for your existing washing machine, if you have to supply your own. When we moved into the unit we found that our top loaded washing machine was to big for the space provided and we actually had to give away our old machine which was only 2 years old.

Feature 3: Lots of Cupboard Space

I reckon one of the best units is those with lots and lots of cupboard space. Most people when designing their own homes or units do not invest in enough built-in cupboard space. Built-ins are a must in any high rise, multi-story units or town houses. Many tenants avoid units or town houses that are multi-story with out built-in cupboards simply because it is to difficult to get them up and down the the stairs plus many removalist companies charge more for going up the stairs.

Feature 4: Two Bathrooms

It does not matter whether you are building a house or a unit, any property with two bathrooms is a must. Having lived with my wife for 5 years now, having two bathrooms is a God send. It means that regardless of whether either of you are running late you can both get ready at the same time. The other advantage is that if you have friends or family visit, having a second bathroom means that you are not all going to be lined up waiting to get ready.

One of the issues developers and people looking to buy Investment units need to be careful of is not making the bathrooms to small. One of our bathrooms in our latest unit is so small, that when you are on the toilet, you cannot close the door properly or if you do and something happens, your partner will not be able to easily access the bathroom. As they say, size counts!

Feature 5: A Great View

The last feature that I believe is the most important feature of any unit is the view. A great view will always surpass any other feature. Nobody wants to come home to a brick wall out of their window every day like I have seen in some Mikes Apartment blocks. A great view though does not always mean that we are talking sea views or city views. My wife and I recently found a unit in which its views were not magnificent, like overlooking the ocean or a beautiful rolling hill scene; in fact the views from the balcony were of a simple garden area that was well manicured. The interesting part about these units was that they were all rented out in only two weeks.

If you are thinking about buying a unit for an investment purpose, these five basic features will certainly affect whether the tenants will want to rent your property. The bottom line is this, the more attractive your unit is, the more likely a tenant will rent or lease your property.

How long puffy nipples should we wait to date after divorce? That is one problem that is probably not given enough thought. Far too many times, people go through divorce and the first thing they want, is to find someone else. It all seems like a good idea at the time, but if you take careful consideration, it makes more sense to wait until the proper time. Youll save yourself some time and heartache that way, if you just become patient, and wait.

After my divorce, from a marriage of 28 years, I felt like I needed to make up for lost time. I thought of all those years of sitting at home alone with the kids, while my husband was doing his own thing. I deserved to have a good time, right? It was my turn to have some fun and kick up my heels! My kids were all grown now, why not have some fun! It should be easy to find me a man like I always wanted, I just needed to put myself out there!

The only problem was, even though I was still a slender attractive lady, I was now 45. I found the men in the bar that I liked were all interested in the much younger women, at least 10 20+ years younger than them. I could not compete against that in my wildest dreams!

To begin with, I was shopping in all the wrong places, and shopping before my time. I did meet some men over the next year or so in the bars, and got involved in four different relationships. But all four failed miserably. I was totally destroyed by the time the fourth one had ended and was depressed and desperate. I wanted man so bad in my life, so he could make me happy. I kept wondering what was so wrong with me, and what was I doing wrong? Why was this happening to me?

What I discovered was that having a man in my life was about the last thing that I needed. I was too dependent and needy, and my vulnerability made me a prime target for those sweet talking men in the bars. What I really needed was to spend some time alone with myself, and get to know myself better, and God. So that is what I did, and I have not regretted it one bit. It was one of the most intelligent moves I made. Yes, I got really lonely at times, but I had to learn to become comfortable in my own skin, and God showed me how to love myself and others. God taught me a lot during this time of being alone in the dessert with Him. I learned to fellowship with other Christian friends, and stay away from the bars. As a result I was much happier, and knew the friends I was among now, were true friends who really cared and people I could depend upon. That is worth its weight in gold alone! We all need the support of like minded believers, to help keep us on track and hold us accountable. It is so easy to get off track, and loose our way.

I have heard that you need to stay single one year for every five years you are married, in order to heal and get rid of any excess baggage. During the healing period, you need to fill your mind with the thoughts of the Lord, and look to him for guidance as well. You can do this by studying his word each day, and spending time in prayer. As far as the equation, I dont know if it is really very reliable. But I do know that with the help of the Lord, it was pretty accurate for me. I was married 28 years, and I was single for 6 years before I was really ready as a mature Christian to be in a relationship again.

God wants us to learn to put him first in our lives, then all the things we want, will added unto us. But we truly have to seek Him with all our hearts, and live a life that is pleasing to Him. Then things will eventually fall into place when the Lord knows you are ready. I am glad I waited on the Lord, rather than trying to take matters into my own hands, and picking a wrong person. That is all God wants, is for us to trust Him, and then at the proper time it will happen. I trust that He will bring the right person into my life at exactly the right time. Until them I am enjoying life with no regrets.

Horse Breeds- A Variety of Useful Horse Types Developed

The planned mating of horses that is directed by humans has given rise to a number of special breeds of horses. Breeders, the persons who help facilitate healthy horse breeding, seek to bring about an enhancement in the physical performance abilities of the offspring or foal even more than improving their appearance. This matching of form to function is a successful means of development of different healthy and (functionally) superior breeds.

People from all over the world have owned horses for various reasons. This is just the reason why various breeds of horses had been developed over the years to provide improved efficiency at particular tasks. Horses can now be classified into three main categories- pony, light and heavy. There can, however, be created further subcategories like draft horses, gaited horses and warmbloods.

It is by learning about these various breeds that an idea can be formed on the kind of horse best suited for a situation and a particular type of work. Some horses are best suited for children to ride on them while some are right for the whole familys riding purpose. For ranching a Quarter Horse, an American breed, is most appropriate. The Morgan Horse, a family friendly and hardworking horse is another smaller but useful horse.

Besides these there are also the heavy breeds or heavy horses which include the draft horses or the horses that were used in battle at a time. The Percheron is a small and powerful heavy horse which is easier to train while the attractive Clydesdale is the most famous of the draft horses which were bred to work on farms or pull carts and wagons.
